Overview & Highlights

Pak Amit Cafe Jalan Kulas is a beloved local cafe nestled in Wisma Wan Abu Bakar on Jalan Kulas, Kuching. Known for its soul-satisfying Sarawak laksa and comforting local drinks, this humble spot offers a genuine taste of Kuching’s culinary heritage without any pretense. The cafe delivers a no-frills dining experience where the spotlight firmly remains on quality and authenticity.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the laksa Sarawak, often hailed by patrons as some of the best in the city. Rich, aromatic, and imbued with layers of Southeast Asian spices, Pak Amit’s laksa delivers a deep, hearty flavor that conjures warmth with every spoonful. Diners like Rosli Nordin praise its ability to hit all the right notes—no gimmicks, just an honest, satisfying bowl. For those craving a classic taste, this is comfort food that truly resonates.

Complementing the signature dish is an array of expertly crafted beverages that perfectly balance sweet and robust flavors. The cafe’s Neslo series—a delightful fusion of Nescafe and Milo—stands out, especially the Neslo C Kosong Peng, which is artfully poured to create a smooth, creamy, and aromatic experience that is both refreshing and indulgent. For tea lovers, the Chai Kosong offers a fragrant, spiced brew that awakens the senses without the richness of milk.

The ambiance at Pak Amit Cafe Jalan Kulas is relaxed and functional, reflecting its status as a local neighborhood hub rather than a fancy eatery. Air-conditioned comfort ensures a pleasant dining environment, a welcome relief from Kuching’s tropical heat. The staff are courteous and attentive, contributing to a welcoming and easygoing atmosphere that encourages lingering over food and conversation.

While some regulars have differing opinions—such as the “Veteran Observer” who found the laksa a bit sandy and less prawn-forward compared to other branches—the consensus leans towards Pak Amit's authenticity and solid flavors. Prices remain very reasonable, making it a go-to spot for those who want great food without breaking the bank.

Whether you’re stopping by for a late-night meal or a casual catch-up over drinks, Pak Amit Cafe Jalan Kulas offers a genuine taste of Kuching’s traditional flavors, served with heart and simplicity. It’s the sort of cafe where locals feel at home, and visitors can savor a true taste of Sarawak’s culinary soul.

Swung by Pak Amit Cafe for a late-night dinner because my cravings for Laksa and Mee Kolok were getting serious. Honestly, despite all the noise about other places, I still think Pak Amit serves the best laksa in Kuching. No fancy gimmicks, just good, solid laksa that hits all the right notes. Ambiance? It is alright lah. Nothing to shout about, but hey, it is a regular cafe with decent prices. I parked myself in the air-conditioned room since it was not too crowded tonight. Gotta stay chill while indulging. Ended up demolishing 6 sticks of chicken satay, a bowl of kolok mee, and two bowls of laksa. Yes, you read that right....two. No regrets. What a night..... Cravings: destroyed. Belly: happy. Me: going straight to food coma. Bon Appetit!

Good laksa. Drinks are OK. Aircond & relatively quite. Courteous staff.

Got air cond are if you not good with jot weather, the food here very nice and taste very authentic especially laksa sarawak

I've been to all Pak Amit Cafe's all over Kuching. This branch has the most disappointing laksa for me although the laksa is still above average in my opinion. The laksa gravy was too sandy to my liking, that it masked any prawn taste to it. RM6 normal RM8 special. Location is convenient.
